Kinkajous are rain forest mammals found in central and south America. Related to raccoons, kinkajous are small (weigh about to 5 kg), nocturnal and primarily eat fruit (particularly figs). They’re sometimes referred to as ‘the honey bear’ because they can use their long skinny tongues to slurp honey out of a hive.
As pets, kinkajous are playful, generally docile and have little body odor. Kinkajous can be chatty at night and have been called ‘la llorona’ or crying woman for centuries.
